Summertime Drive Through Food Distributions sponsored by WPTV and The Urban League of Palm Beach County

The Urban League of Palm Beach County Summer Food Drive is born out of partnering with WPTV, Scripps Howard Foundation, Publix Super Market, Florida Crystals Corporation, The Kiwanis Club of Riviera Beach and AmeriHealth Caritas Florida. The Urban League of Palm Beach County also hosts a 3 city summertime Drive Through Food Distributions, one in West Palm Beach, one in Delray Beach and one in Belle Glade communities. As the demand for food continues to skyrocket due to the lingering effects of COVID, the new threat is inflation, which has increased the price of food, gas, rent, mortgages, taxes and so much more. More importantly, food insecurity continues to be a mammoth problem for low to moderate families struggling with the high cost of goods and services. While many families receive food through local food banks, inflation has curbed their purchasing power.

Altogether the Palm Beach County food banks distribute over 1 Million pounds of food each month. The donations from our community helps to put food on the table for 100,000 families. Although it’s very helpful, this still is not enough to meet the overwhelming food shortage throughout Palm Beach County.
