PEOPLE OF PURPOSE, INC. is a 501c3 non-profit corporation run by a Board of Directors of community representatives and returning citizens who have paid their debt to society, completed prison terms and are seeking a second chance. These returning citizens need our help.
Upon release returning citizens are reintroduced into society with no funds, little training or support and need help. The recidivism rate is typically as high as 80%. This situation creates a revolving door for people who have no way to reform, held back from decent employment, with no friends, funds, or family support. Without even a driver’s license, it’s difficult for most returning citizens to reenter society. That’s where People of Purpose comes in.
Founding Director, William Freeman has spent most of his life behind bars. William is an intelligent, motivated, and compassionate person who has overcome the odds and turned his life around. With all the challenges William faced and all the lessons he has learned he now helps others in their journey to a sustainable life through People of Purpose.
PEOPLE OF PURPOSE: Returning Citizens Need Help
PEOPLE OF PURPOSE: Partner #1
Everyday folks are released from prison with the odds heavily against them. Organizations like People of Purpose have set themselves up to help flatten the mountain for returning citizens to climb back into a constructive and productive life. Mentors helped William and many others to reenter society. You can help someone in Palm Beach County come back better.
Here’s the story of how People of Purpose returning citizens see their future, but need your help and support:
Suraj Joseph Perera, Jr. (B00755) | |
Suraj Joseph Perera, Jr. is a young man that William Freeman met during his time of incarceration who was released 3 months before William. Suraj has medically died 5 times and been brought back to life. The last time he recovered, he finally said he’d had enough, so William began a journey to help him. Suraj did not have Mentors in his life that he could call to talk to, or someone who would just to offer a ride to help Suraj find a job. It’s really hard for a returning citizen with no family. Both of Suraj’s parents are passed. William needs your help to help him give this true young man, Suraj, a chance. |
