
Labor Community Alliance: VIRTUAL LABOR FORUM
The Labor Community Alliance presents a virtual Labor Forum, online via Zoom on April 29, 2021 at 7 pm.
The topic of this virtual Forum will be, “What Must Labor Unions Do to Fulfill Promises Made?” The purpose of the Forum is to discuss and listen to different perspectives of labor leaders in South Florida in order to become more informed.
While the National Labor Relations Board is lead by a Union member, there is much work to be done, such as revitalizing the infrastructure of this nation to creating millions of jobs, protecting workers’ rights, securing pension plans, etc. This Forum is an opportunity to learn from labor leaders what are the most pressing issues and concerns facing their members, and what follow up actions are needed.
Panelists include: Karla Hernandez-Mats, President United Teachers of Dade, Richard Quinconces, Vice-President of South Florida AFL-CIO, Mark Schaunaman, President of South Florida Building & Trades Council, Nucleus Shelton, SEIU Healthcare, and Phyllis Talley, President of AFSCME Local 1184.
