There are many ways you can volunteer to help bring pride and hope to a disadvantaged community. Community Beautification through Clean Up Events, adding items like flower boxes and gardens, as well as repairing and painting eyesore structures are just some of the volunteer opportunities available.
PALM BEACH COUNTY OFFICE OF COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION
The Palm Beach County Office of Community Revitalization works with many partners in many areas to beautify, reconstruct, clean up, and otherwise improve run down sites and areas in underserved neighborhoods. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities to perform on site and from your home.
Every community in Palm Beach County has a wide variety of issues and activities that are important to its residents. Topics important to residents include a desire to improve the appearance of their neighborhood as well as a new building project being proposed. Many residents also have concerns regarding safety, speeding and lack of activities for area youth.
Palm Beach County’s Office of Community Revitalization works to respond to these neighborhood concerns in order to promote a strong partnership between the County and its residents.
Designed to provide neighborhoods with a link to County government, the OCR team assists neighborhood groups and residents in effectively accessing and using County services and other community resources in order to to enhance the quality of life in Palm Beach County’s neighborhoods.

NEIGHBORHOOD HOME BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM
The Neighborhood Home Beautification Program provides funding assistance for visible enhancements to residential properties in the CCRT areas. Examples of eligible improvements include: exterior painting, exterior doors and windows, mail boxes, fencing repair and lawn improvements.

Choose a project such as Adopt-A-Spot, a neighborhood clean up, community garden, painting or beautifying a community. You can begin by canvassing a street, a block, or the entire neighborhood looking for signs of distress. Some signs of distress may include: an overgrown yard, a careworn exterior, or unattended litter polluting our neighborhoods.
ADOPT-A-SPOT
You or your group can be a neighborhood hero! Adopt-A-Spot for a highway, a beach, or a neighborhood. You can Adopt-A-Spot for any area in Palm Beach County. The Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority will work “hand-in-glove” in order to assist your cleanup or beautification campaign. You must commit to at least 2 clean-ups a year and they will provide the supplies and information including safety guidelines, press release assistance, etc. A physical sign will be installed acknowledging your or your organization’s care for the community. PAINT YOUR HEART OUT
The Solid Waste Authority also approves volunteer exterior painting for selected homes owned by Palm Beach County residents living below he poverty line. Homes are selected according to need in order to benefit the underserved. All paint and materials for improvement are supplied.

COMMUNITY GREENING
Community Greening plants canopy and fruit trees throughout Palm Beach County, particularly in underserved neighborhoods. They have already planted hundreds of trees and aspire to plant thousands. The result of their work is not only to beautify. The trees provide shade, freshen the atmosphere, as well as provide edible fruit. Planting trees also provides jobs in the community for neighborhood teens. Talk about a comprehensive program – Community Greening has it all.
